What does Hoo-haz do?

Hoo-haz is the first online platform of its kind which facilitates the renting of everyday household items between household-to-household by providing a platform to list under-utilised items for rent.

Examples of household items you can list are tools, garden equipment, outdoor and fitness equipment, party hire equipment, musical instruments, baby accessories etc. Hoo-haz calls the owner of the items being rented out, the “Hazzer”. Hoo-haz provides two unique benefits to the Hazzer;

  • Hoo-haz provides a Hazzer with a means to generate ongoing revenue, they would ordinarily not receive, from under-utilised household items it has purchased
  • Hoo-haz provides a Hazzer with a way to have a positive effect on the environment by reducing consumption and therefore, production of household items, by making available their underutilized item for others to rent.

Of equal importance is the household which is searching for a particular item and chooses to rent the under-utilised item from the Hazzer instead of purchasing the item. Hoo-haz calls this household the “Renter”. Hoo-haz provides two unique benefits to the Renter;

  • Provides the Renter with cost effective and short-term options to gain access to particular household items without the need to purchase them for significantly higher costs.
  • Provides the Renter with multiple local and easily accessible options to obtain and use a particular household item on a short term basis, from many different Hazzers and to determine the best Hazzer to deal with based on:
    • Price/Cost
    • Availability
    • Locality
    • Condition, and
    • Hazzer Profile History

How does This App Work?

  • Setup your profile and complete the STRIPE ID verification process

    Once you have downloaded and installed Hoo-haz you will be prompted to take a selfie profile pic and enter your contact details. The STRIPE ID verification process will also require you to enter your contact. Once verified you are all set to listing and renting items on Hoo-haz. Following initial verification STRIPE may require you to upload a form of photo ID which will be verified by STRIPE.

  • Start Adding/Listing Items

    Adding/Listing an item is completely free and unlimited. Simply take photos of your item, select the most appropriate category, enter a title and description for your item, enter the rental price and publish. You can then see and edit your listed items under the Settings menu in My Ads by selecting “Manage”.

  • Searching for & Renting Items

    Searching for items is really easy. Simply type in what you are looking for in the search bar. Alternatively you can search by Category (eg, House & Garden, Baby & Child, Sports & Outdoor etc). If you still cant find what you are looking for, you can expand the geographic radius of your search from your current location up to 100km.


    Once you have found the perfect item, submit and enquiry selecting your desired rental period. When your enquiry is approved, agree on a time and place to pick up the item. Payment via the Hoo-haz app should only follow once you have inspected the item and the rental period will commence once the Hazzer accepts your payment and releases the item. Return the item on time and in it’s original condition. If you wish to extend the rental period, please notify the Hazzer, return the item virtually on the Hoo-haz app and re-submit another rental enquiry for the additional desired rental period.

A Hazzer is the person who owns the item you need and can hire this to you, the Renter.

A Renter is a user on Hoo-haz who is searching for an item to rent on a short term basis from a Hazzer rather than purchase the item.

Every Hazzer and Renter needs to create a profile to confirm their identity through the Stripe verification process. This ensures that there are no fake profiles and all transactions are genuine transactions with genuine users.

Both the Hazzer and Renter may need to provide some form of official government photo ID (eg drivers licence, passport) subject to the Stripe verification process.

Credit card details are required so that the Renter can pay for the rental of an item in a safe way via the Hoo-haz app. Hoo-haz are partnered with Stripe who are one of the world’s largest online payment processing platforms. All credit card details are securely encrypted and stored with Stripe. There are no credit card details retained in the Hoo-haz app.

If you wish to become a Hazzer and list items for rent on Hoo-haz, you will need to include the details for the bank account you wish to receive rental funds into. All bank account details are stored and encrypted with Stripe. There are no bank retails retained in the Hoo-haz app

Stripe is a payment processing platform for the internet. Businesses of every size—from new startups to public companies—use Stripe to accept payments and manage payments online. This includes Google, Zoom and Amazon.

Yes, Hoo-haz charges an administration fee in order to cover the running costs of the Hoo-haz app.

If you'd like to lodge a complaint, an email is the best method of getting in touch with us. We take complaints very seriously, so please be as detailed as possible in your email to us so we can take a good look at the problem. Email us at support@Hoo-haz.com.au.  You should rate your hazzer from 1 to 5 stars at the end of the transaction based on your experience together with a comment. Hoo-haz may at its discretion remove a user from the app.

The Hoo-haz app operates 24 hours 7 days a week. However, transactions and collection times and return of items is based on the pre-arranged place and time between the Hazzer and Renter. 

Please organise collection and return of the item with the Hazzer via the Hoo-haz app.

No, you will need to return the hired items back to your Hazzer.

Simply organise a drop off time with your Hazzer and return your item/s at the end of your hire period.

In this COVID age, we ask that you practice good hygiene and give your equipment a wipe before you return. If you’re unsure, ask us!

In this COVID age, we ask that if you are not feeling well or exhibiting any flu like symptoms, please go and get COVID tested and postpone any pick up or drop off until you are feeling well again.

The Hoo-haz app will list prices by the hour, day or week. Please enter in your desired duration to hire the item, the app will give you a quote based on this.

This basically means the charge is based on the length of time the equipment is out, not the time it is used. It's important to remember that rates are set by the Hazzer, so if your hire duration needs to change you'll receive the appropriate rate. Easy, right? Eg:

 
  • A day rate is 24 hours from the start of the hire.
  • A week rate is seven days from the start of the hire

If you need something for many months, please change your hire time using the weeks function.

No. If the Hazzer and renter are unable to come to an agreement on the damage to an item, please contact us.

We recommend that you only make available items that you are comfortable with providing for hire and are not easily broken, lost or of significant value.

At this time we are not offering insurance coverage, but this will be an extension to our service in the near future.

If you're not sure about what equipment is best for the job, contact us and we will endeavour to provide assistance.

Please ask your Hazzer for assistance or a demonstration. We ask that you do not hire or use any equipment that you are not comfortable with using or that may endanger the safety of yourself, those around you or cause damage to property.

We do not include motor vehicles in our available items to hire.

Get in touch with your Hazzer to organise a new drop off time. The Hazzer will need to end the current rental and you(the Renter) will need to send a new enquiry to the Hazzer for the extended rental period.

Once you've placed a reservation online, your Hazzer will confirm a price and pick up time, payment will need to occur before you can pick up your equipment.

Hoo-haz will run on Apple iOS12 and above, or Android OS8 or above.

You can cancel your hire by going to the My Account section on our app and cancelling your hire.

If you're unsure about how you're going to transport a piece of equipment, please check the dimensions with your Hazzer before hiring the item.

Please adjust your requested hire date and confirm a new date with your Hazzer in the app.

This occurs when your Hazzer confirms the price and pick up date that you have requested are ok.

Your credit card and bank details are securely stored and encrypted with Stripe. We want to make sure you’ve got peace of mind when hiring any equipment!

You'll need to use a different card, or your bank may require confirmation of the purchase before proceeding. It might pay to have a chat with them if you keep getting problems or email us to see if there’s anything we can do to assist.

With an active hire, your current card cannot be removed or changed. However you can add another card and then remove the older one. Once the hire has concluded you're able to delete your card details. Check in with us if this step gives you any trouble.

You pay for a hire via the Hoo-haz app when your enquiry is accepted, you have inspected the item in person and prior to the Hazzer releasing the item.

Refunds are at the discretion of the Hazzer, if you have already used the equipment then we are unable to offer a refund.

Please ensure your item is in good working condition and does not in any way present as a risk or danger to the renter, prior to listing on to the Hoo-Haz app.

Expand the geographical search area by touching the three lines in the top right hand corner, then slide the Radius button from left to right.

Please ensure the item is in good working condition prior to renting, if there is pre-existing damage to the item, we recommend taking photos of the item and getting agreement with the Haazer on the condition of the item. If the item appears to be damaged and presents a danger to your well-being, we recommend you do not rent the item.

The first deposit with Stripe will take 7-10 days after payment is made. Subsequent deposits are dependent on the assigned payout schedule. Most customers receive subsequent payouts within 2 business days.
